Wrapping Up 2024 with Warm Wishes and possibly Warmer Weather

As the snowflakes settle over our beloved Stray—or at least they would if we weren’t expecting a balmy Christmas Day that’s more suited to BBQs than Baileys—it’s time to reflect on a remarkable year for the Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce.

2024 has been a year of change, challenge, and triumph. We began under the steady hand of Sue Kramer, whose dedication and energy set a high bar for Chamber leadership. Sue’s work paved the way for our continued growth, and in May, the gavel passed to Phill Holdsworth. Phill, with his unique expertise as a Money Psychologist, has brought a fresh focus on fostering meaningful dialogue with politicians, councillors, and community influencers. His vision is clear: to make life better for our members by championing the causes that matter most to businesses, charities, and communities alike.

Over the year, we tackled topics as diverse as economic resilience, menopause in the workplace, and marketing strategies for the future. From engaging sessions with the Bank of England to understanding the implications of the Budget that was, we’ve kept our members informed and prepared for what’s ahead.

On a lighter note, our events calendar was as vibrant as ever. We welcomed many new members to the Chamber family—each bringing fresh perspectives and opportunities for collaboration. Whether it was enjoying the camaraderie at networking events or diving into the details of our strategic development plans, 2024 proved that the Chamber remains a vital hub for innovation and community spirit.

Looking ahead, the journey continues. Phill is focused on leveraging his role to engage stakeholders across all sectors, ensuring that Harrogate and its district remain a thriving place to live, work, and grow a business.

As we prepare to turn the page to 2025, let’s take a moment to appreciate the resilience, ingenuity, and camaraderie that define us as a Chamber. Together, we’ve proven that no challenge is too great when we stand united.

Finally, on behalf of the Chamber, I wish you a joyous Christmas filled with laughter, love, and maybe even a suntan. Here’s to a prosperous New Year for all!

Warm festive wishes,

Phillip Holdsworth

President, Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce
