Supporting Older People at Christmas

Local Charity and Chamber member Supporting Older People is asking businesses and individuals to support their Christmas gift appeal this year.

Director Kate Rogata said, “Every Christmas, we give each of our 300 older beneficiaries, who live alone in Harrogate and Knaresborough a small Christmas gift, which are delivered by our volunteers and helpers.

These doorstep deliveries and a chat are such a treat at a time of year when loneliness is worse than normal. We would like to give everyone a small gift of biscuits or chocolates, costing up to a maximum of £5 each. If you are able to support us, please could you get the presents to the SOP office at Community House by Friday 6th December. If you can wrap them, we will be very grateful.

We also need volunteers to wrap presents and deliver them to our members between the 9th and 19th December. We will make sure that deliveries are close to each other!”
